Colour & Print Disclaimer

Introduction

At London Print Works, we specialise in bold, vibrant artwork inspired by London’s dance-music culture. Because our designs use extremely bright tones - particularly Acid Yellow and Electric Pink - this Colour & Print Disclaimer explains how print colour systems differ from digital screens, why variations occur, and what customers should expect when ordering.

Digital Screens vs Printed Colour

Digital screens and printed artwork use fundamentally different colour systems:

  • Screens use RGB light - producing bright, luminous colours.
  • Printers use CMYK ink - physical pigment applied to paper.

Because these systems work differently, printed colours may appear slightly softer than they do on a backlit screen, particularly when reproducing neon or high-saturation tones.

Why Bright Colours Sometimes Soften

Our professional print labs apply automated colour management to ensure consistent, high-quality results. These processes are designed to:

  • Prevent oversaturation
  • Maintain smooth gradients
  • Ensure colour stability and longevity

As a result, extremely bright colours such as Acid Yellow and Electric Pink may be subtly desaturated during printing. This is a normal and intentional part of professional CMYK production.

Differences Between Print Sizes

Slight colour variations may occur between A1, A2, and A3 prints due to:

  • Differences in ink coverage
  • Machine scaling and calibration
  • Drying times
  • Paper absorption rates

These differences are standard within professional printing and do not indicate a fault.

Paper & Material Variations

Minor tonal differences may also occur depending on:

  • Paper texture
  • Paper coating type
  • Ink absorbency
  • Ink density

These variations are subtle but expected when working with premium printed materials.

Mockups vs Final Prints

All product mockups are displayed digitally using RGB colour and controlled lighting. Final printed artwork depends on:

  • Ink formulation
  • Paper stock
  • Ambient lighting in your space

For this reason, final prints may appear slightly softer or warmer than on-screen previews. Mockups are provided as a visual guide, not an exact colour match.

Customer Expectations

By placing an order with London Print Works, customers acknowledge that:

  • Natural variation exists between screen and print colour
  • Extremely bright colours may appear slightly softer in print
  • Minor differences between print sizes are normal
  • Mockups are illustrative and not a perfect colour reference

This is standard across all professional CMYK printing processes.
